Raritan (Native Americans)
Raritan is a Native American place name in the Lenape language. It was used by Europeans who colonized what is now known as Raritan Bay in northern New Jersey and Staten Island, New York to refer to the Lenape people who inhabited the areas.
The Raritan River in New Jersey also takes its name from this word.
