Bassett is an unincorporated neighborhood in Los Angeles County, California located within the northern end of the Census boundaries of Avocado Heights. The ZIP Code is 91746 and the community is inside area code 626.
Description
Bassett is located in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley and northwest of the Puente Hills.
Bassett is bounded by the San Gabriel River to the west, the western part of City of Industry to the north and east and Workman Mill Road to the south. The 605 Freeway is located in the western end of the community. It's also located halfway between the 10 Freeway and the 60 Freeway
Demographics
Although the U.S. Census did not report Bassett separately in 2000, the neighborhood is dominated by mostly working class Latinos and a few Asians.
Crime
The Bassett District does not hold home to many street gangs, but has a somewhat high crime rate. Some street gangs known in the area are Bassett Grande, also called Big Bassett in English, and some members of the Puente 13 street gang, both of which are Hispanic Gangs.
